Toshiba-Made MacBook Air SSD Hardware Now Available to All

If you were wanting to get your hands on some of the Toshiba-made SSD hardware that found its way into the latest MacBook Airs, you’re in luck. Toshiba has announced that their Blade X-gale SSDs are now available for the masses. Offering up speeds of 220MB/s read and 180MB/s write, the X-gale hardware will certainly add some pep to your computer’s step. Though not the fastest SSD on the market, they are certainly faster than your standard platter-based drives.

The X-gale SSD drives will come in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB capacities. Pricing is not yet available.

Elgato's Thunderbolt SSD: Bus Powered, 120/240GB, Available in February

Elgato sent over info on its brand new Thunderbolt SSD available in February in 120GB and 240GB capacities. There's no word on the controller inside. If I had to speculate based on the capacities alone it sounds a lot like SandForce but it honestly could be anyone. The external drive is entirely bus powered and will retail for a hefty $429.95 for the 120GB model and $699.95 for the 240GB version.

I'm still waiting for someone to make a BYOD external Thunderbolt chassis though...

ASUS' Transformer Prime TF700T: Improves Wireless, Adds 1920 x 1200 Panel, Available in Q2

ASUS just announced an updated version of the Eee Pad Transformer Prime, the TF700T. The new tablet keeps the same form factor, dimensions, screen size and weight of the original TF Prime. It also includes the same Tegra 3 SoC running at 1.3GHz, but it now adds a 1920 x 1200 panel. In addition to the new panel is an upgraded 2MP front facing camera and finally a new back panel for improved wireless performance. Battery capacity and the rest of the specs remain identical to the TF201.

ASUS expects the TF700T to be available in North America sometime in late Q2 (I'd assume May/June), with MSRPs between $599 - $699. The original Prime will still be available in the market, the TF700T will simply be a higher end model.
